Del Casher, a guitar notable in the Los Angeles studio scene for many years, is known as the "Papa" of the Vox "Wah-Wah" foot pedal. He's also the developer of the Ecco-Fonic effects machine for recording and the first to introduce the Roland GR-500 guitar synthesizer to the public. Del joined the popular 1950's act "The Three Suns" after attending college at the University of Pittsburgh. Del is a good friend of Les Paul and has performed with him on many occasions. Also, Gene Autry featured Del on his weekly tv show "Melody Ranch" in Los Angeles. Elvis Presley used Del in his film "Roustabout" for Paramount Pictures. Del recorded with Frank Zappa before Frank started the "Mothers of Invention". Later Del performed with Frank Zappa in concert and television performances. Del also played guitar in such films as "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" and "The Shakiest Gun in the West with Don Knotts. Also the Tony Curtis movie "Don't Make Waves". From 1971 thru 1988, NBC television in Los Angeles used Del's production soundtrack for the NBC News Center 4 program which was the longest running tv news theme. Del has worked with Eddy Arnold, Connie Francis, Bobby Vinton, Julie London, Bobby Troup, Bob Hope, Buddy Ebsen, Donald O'Connor, Danny Thomas, Sonny and Cher, Phil Spector, Burt Bacharach and many others. He was also a frequent guest solo artist on Lawrence Welk's popular tv show. He was also the music producer for the popular series "Chico and the Man" as well as musical director for "The New Zoo Review", a syndicated children's tv show in the early seventies. lives in Los Angeles and continues to perform on tv, film, and records as well as, occasional live appearances.
