Carla Rae Johnson, was born and raised in Indiana Harbor, attended Washington Elementary and E.C. Washington High School. She is an artist whose media include drawing, sculpture, conceptual, performance, and installation art. Her art is directly connected to ideas that address issues of social, political, and cultural import.
As an artist, she finds the most challenging forms and concepts at the intersection of the visual and the verbal.
Her work has been exhibited in solo, invitational, and curated shows in museums and galleries nationally and is included in numerous public and private collections.
