Wondering what's in it for you?
Fellowship ranks high on the list. Besides three membership luncheons yearly, members are offered a wide variety of travel options. You can leave the driving to us and travel with your best friends at affordable prices. As well, members often volunteer together within their communities.
Three mini-workshops each year keep all members up to date concerning Medicare coverage changes, prescription drug options, and long-term care arrangements. Active teachers are invited to attend the yearly Retirement Planning Seminar. Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, this event offers detailed explanations of the pension options.
IRTA offers scholarships for future teachers if a parent or grandparent is a member. LCRTA actively participates in this financial program, donating $2 of each $10-dues payment for a sizeable contribution. One junior or senior from Area I is picked each year to receive $1,200 minimum. Contact your local RTA officers or the state office for applications.
More importantly, LCRTA and IRTA act as the voice of the Indiana retired teacher at the Legislature. Indiana remains one of four states that does not grant an automatic Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Without our constant work the precious yearly COLA could be the first thing cut from the State's budget.

LCRTA dues are $10 for both Active Members and Associate Members, payable each year by March 1. LCRTA dues are paid separately from IRTA dues, which are $30 and paid annually in September.
