We have had a wonderful year! We just experienced our May Friendship Day and Annual Meeting on May 5 at First Griffith United Methodist Church. We were very warmly greeted by the Reverend William Dunnfee and the local UMC Women's leader, Sharon Ford. The Theme was "Signs of Growth." The program was written by a new group of Church Women United called Young CWU. The program materials centered around the story of Ruth and Naomi. What a fitting anology because they are the Ruth's of today as we are the Naomi's.
At our annual meeting we were able to recognize on of the new Ruth's of today. Her may is Melissa (Missy) Crawford and she attends the First Christian (D.O.C.) church in Highland. Her grandmother was also there to watch as Missy received her certificate and an angel. During the installation of officers Missy assisted her Naomi's by lighting the first candle.
We are looking forward to our summer Prayer Retreat. Again, this year it will be held at Andoora Banquet Room in Schererville. The event will take place on Saturday, August 26. Cost and time will be posted later as we ourselves gain more information. The theme will be centering on human rights.
