Known as 'the Public Historian,' Cynthia is an expert on local history of the Calumet area, author of Along the Calumet River and  secretary of the CCHS.

Virginia Brooks



Crusader against vice in Calumet City.  From 1910-1913, she led a successful campaign that brought about closing the doors of many 'dens of gambling and disorderly establishment' in what was then West Hammond.
 

Mayor Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush

At age 27, Michelle was the youngest elected City Clerk in Calumet City's history and became the first woman to hold the office of Mayor.

Adeline C. Jaacks

Well known teacher at TFN High School from 1927-1970, Miss Jaacks single-handedly set up the Biology Department and directed student activities.  The TFN Auditorium is named after her.

Calumet City Public Health Nurse from 1920's-50's, our city's Health Center is named after her.
 

Mary Matalin


TFN High School graduate and 1970 Homecoming Queen, Mary went on to hold positions in the White House, host talk shows and authored books.
