Voyageur Rendezvous 'A Traveler’s Gathering of the Fur Trade Era

May 17th-18th, 2008
Grand Kankakee Marsh County Park
Hebron, IN  46341
10:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday and Sunday
$2.00 per person, children 7 and younger free.

Educational, historic encampments of French voyageurs, Native Americans, and military units.  Music, storytelling, concessions, and children’s games.
The Fur Trade Era was an adventurous time filled with people trying to secure a place to conduct trade and control commerce in the New World.  One area of interest was the Grand Marsh, with its more than two million acres of wetland abundant with beaver and waterfowl.  At Grand Kankakee Marsh County Park, we recreate a looking glass into that 17th and 18th century history with reenactors portraying British and French militia, French-Canadian canoe men, called Voyageurs, Native Americans, and many others who lived in or traveled through the Grand Marsh of Northern Indiana.
